30/12/10 Filed in: Fun
If you want to play minecraft on an external server, one way to do it is to use a cloud computer instance. I’ve used rackspace.com to host a small instance using 1GB RAM. It includes a daily and weekly system backup. Read More...

Windows black screen of death
13/12/10
Ever since my Windows Vista gave me a black screen of death I was at a loss of what to do with the information. This is the joyless state where the screen is black, you get a cursor and nothing else. The partition shows active and healthy in the Computer Storage Management but you cannot explore or otherwise access it. Read More...
Muse better on CD than in concert
01/09/10
That was our opinion after going to the concert in Bern’s Stade de Suisse, Switzerland. You could only hear bass on most of the songs and at least 2 of the songs were just garbled noise... you could not even make out the rhythm. For the price we paid for those 2 tickets we could have bought the entire set of CDs. For any other purchase, failing to provide what was purchased would entail a refund, not the music concert industry apparently. Read More...
Dark side of Nespresso machines
15/08/10

Update Captivate 1 now
28/05/10
Adobe is coming out with their new version of Captivate (version 5) in mid-June, 2010. It can only be upgraded from Captivate 3 and 4. So if you have version 1 or 2 your are out of luck... unless you order now version 4 for the same price and ask about getting a free upgrade to 5 when it comes out next month. It your last chance if you own one of those horrible older versions when Adobe first purchased Macromedia. Read More...
iPad arrives in Switzerland
27/05/10 Filed in: Apple
My iPad arrived in today’s mail, a little ahead of schedule. Although it is a little smaller and heavier than I thought it is responsive and quick. A shame that many of my iPhone applications need to be repurchased to take advantage of the larger screen but apparently that is a developer choice and most are choosing to make their customers pay. My unofficial review as follows. Read More...
Security Update 2010-001 causes iLife to crash
19/02/10 Filed in: Apple
After dutifully applying the MacOSX Security Update 2010-001 in January, I noticed that most of my applications (including my iLife applications like iPhoto, iTunes, and others) would always crash at startup with kernel errors. Read More...
