Is the world ready for the iPhone?

Although the Apple iPhone is coming out this Friday it seems that the overseas release might still have some hiccups. When I went to a local Swisscom vendor (Manor in Geneva) to ask about it they seemed to be thoroughly confused on all points except the release date.
Although the Apple iPhone is coming out this Friday it seems that the overseas release might still have some hiccups, at least in Switzerland. Although pricing is available here in Switzerland, everyone only seems ready to move boxes. When I went to a local Swisscom vendor (Manor in Geneva) to ask about it they seemed to be thoroughly confused on all points except the release date.

When I asked what the international network access charges would be they said that it was unknown. When I asked if it had bluetooth, they said yes but that it was a special bluetooth that may not work with existing bluetooth devices. Would it be possible to switch the provider from Swisscom? I asked them to explain about the wireless hotspot access being free but that there was a download limit on the accounts. The free wireless hotspot access at Swisscom hotspots is apparently unlimited but the data download from the 3G networks is what is limited/ metered.

They did not know, even after my service contract was up they did not know what would happen but it would not matter since after 2 years the phone would surely not be worth much compared to the phones available then. As a trick question I asked if it would work with my PC and they said they thought it would only work with a Mac system.

They explained that there is a lot of secrecy around the release and so a lot of things were just unknown however they were happy to reserve one for me.
